Those Harrod Boys

After church today we all loaded up the car and headed to Monterey to the Atha family reunion (Granny’s side of the family).  It was very hot, but Jonathan had fun playing on the swing with cousin Chad and Papa.  Nana’s uncle Jessie lives just down the road, so she and Papa took Jonathan to meet him (and the camera too!).

Daddy and Papa went to work at church and to look at cars today while Jonathan stayed at home with Mommy and Nana.  Mommy had friends over to scrapbook, so Jonathan and Nana played outside in the pool.  He had come in, got dried off, clothes changed, and was fine when he went out to say hi to Nana - then ran and jumped in the pool!  His diaper weighed about 10 pounds!

Papa’s flight landed just about midnight, so Jonathan was well asleep when he got here this morning, but once Jonathan saw him, well let’s just say both boys’ days were made.  Mommy, Jonathan, Nana, and Papa came to visit Daddy at work this afternoon, and we headed out to dinner at Bravo’s.  No sooner had we got seated than Jonathan got scared and kept saying, “All done!” and “Bye-Byes!”  He sat in Mommy’s lap for almost all of dinner.  The only thing we can figure is that he saw the brick oven on our way in and got scared.  Nana and Papa and took Jonathan back home while Mommy and Daddy were at the mall. The three of them were playing outside when the wind picked up and the rain began to fall.  Jonathan got a little wet before they got back in the garage, then he proved beyond a doubt that he’s all boy: he ran back out in the driveway to play in the rain.  He came back in, then ran back outside again.  By the time Nana got him in the house, he was one wet little boy.

Jonathan went to his new school with Mommy for the first time.  His teacher, Mrs. Vandivier, whom he will probably call Mrs. V, said he just sat and watched everyone playing all day; he didn’t want to play, eat, or do anything.  Hopefully he’ll warm up soon enough.

It was a drizzely day around town, but Jonathan had fun with Nana and Great-Grandma inside the house.  They went for a trip to the store, and he took a good nap this afternoon.  After dinner, Jonathan ran into Mommy and Daddy’s closet and didn’t come out.  Daddy heard him laughing, and when he looked, Jonathan was hiding behind the clothes!  He got a kick out of his new hiding place.  He even tried to stow away in Great-Grandma’s suitcase.  He was very tired at bedtime, so tired that he was fussy.  Great-Grandma headed home tonight, but Papa arrives tomorrow!

Jonathan played hard with Nana and Great-Grandma today while Mommy had her first “official” day at her new school.  We all went for a walk around the neighborhood this evening.  Jonathan was very sleepy by bedtime.

Only four more months till Christmas!  Mommy and Daddy started new jobs today: Mommy started teaching at the Classical school and Daddy started administrative work at the seminary.  Both of them had good days, but Jonathan had the most fun of all staying home with “Nee-na” and Great-”Gamaw”.  They played inside and outside all day long.  By dinner time he was worn out and just staring out the window.
