31 December 2007

Wow, it’s the last post of this year. No, Jonathan’s not up for the new year, he didn’t take an afternoon nap today and was quite cranky after dinner, even though he did get to eat his first steak tonight (thanks Grandpa Ron!). We stayed around the house today because Grandma Jen woke up not feeling so well. Mommy and Jonathan took a walk around the neighborhood this afternoon (actually Mommy walked and Jonathan rode in his wagon).

We’re thankful for a blessed 2007 and are looking forward to an exciting 2008. New year’s blessings to you all.

One Year Ago…

One year ago we were ringing in 2007 with a sleepy little boy.

Daddy preached at Mr. Ewers’ church today and we all went out for Mexican food for lunch.  Jonathan ate lots of refried beans and rice.  We spent the afternoon relaxing, watching movies, and just hanging out.

Daddy got a little behind on posting today, oops. We stayed around the house this morning and put together Jonathan’s toy kitchen (Hey, if the kid’s the next Alton Brown, it’s worth it!). This afternoon we headed out to the flea market and gun show. You can guess who went where. Here’s a pictue of Jonathan and Aunt Lauren playing with, you guessed it, the box that the kitchen came in.

Daddy and Jonathan had breakfast this morning and Grandpa Ron joined us for coffee.  After Jonathan’s nap we went out for lunch and then came home to open more presents.  Jonathan got some fun new toys including Aunt Lauren’s old snow shovel and a toy kitchen.  Daddy and Grandpa watched McClintock this afternoon while Mommy and Grandma went shopping.  We all met at Bravo’s for dinner and Jonathan ate most everything in sight!

Papa, Nana, and Great-Grandma headed home today and Grandpa Ron, Grandma Jen, and Aunt Lauren drove in tonight.  It seems like Jonathan is starting to notice people missing, because after both of his naps today he looked around the house for everyone and said, “Papa?”  We had a fun afternoon watching Top Gun; Jonathan’s call sign is “Little Man.”

It was a nice day outside, so Jonathan went with Nana and Great-Grandma for a ride in his wagon and then played with the neighbors’ dog, Jessie.  This evening we went to Daniel, Robyn, and Thomas’ house and met Hank & Lisa for dinner and gifts.  There were two tired little boys by the night’s end.

We made our way through the present pile with lots of clothes, books, movies, and toys to show for it.  There’s still a pile for Jonathan to open later today (after his nap).
