The boys played at home today while Mommy did chores. Daddy had a hunch that it would be a good idea to close the basement door this evening, and it was a good thing, Matthew crawled from the living room all the way into Jonathan’s room! Daddy and the boys played with Jonathan’s nerf rocket gun before dinner.
Here’s a video of Matthew’s crawling skills.

Mommy spotted a bug, a really BIG one on the kitchen window today.
Tonight we invited ourselves over to “uncle” Dale and “aunt” Lori’s house to go swimming. The boys had a blast. Jonathan, wearing his froggie life jacket, crossed the entire length of the pool and back! Matthew was a little fish, he didn’t want to get out. Jonathan was fast asleep in the car before we hit the freeway.
Here’s a video of the evening.

Mommy and the boys had a busy day cleaning up the house (and pulling out all the toys again - Matthew has a special talent here). Our dinner plans with Dr. Haykin didn’t work out due to travel problems, but maybe next month. Tonight Daddy dipped into the secret stash of Star Wars toys he’s put aside for Jonathan to get him an Obi Wan toy. This one swings his lightsaber when you push a button on its back. Pretty cool.
Here are a few old pictures and some new ones. Mommy made the super cutie diaper holder and burp cloth. She’s getting very talented with that sewing machine. Granny would be proud.

Matthew is a whole six months old today! Already?

Jonathan taught Pooh Bear the ways of the Jedi today - he hung him upside down and told him to “Use the force!” to get his lightsaber. Thankfuly there were no Wampas in the house.

Mommy heard Matthew laughing over the baby monitor this afternoon and went in to find him awake from his nap - and rolled over on his belly (still in his swadling blanket). The times they are a changin’.

This evening we all went over to church for Jonathan’s Cubbies award presentation. He memorized lots of Bible verses this Spring. We’re very proud of him.

Afterwards we went with Amy and the girls (and Elliott, sorry man) to get ice cream at Culvers. Well, Jonathan got a shake because “ice cream is too cold,” but a shake is apparantly much warmer. He and the girls chased each other around the patio outside the restaraunt.

On the car ride home Jonathan was entertaining us. He noticed the camera about 19 seconds into the clip.

Today was the day for the first real accumulating snowfall of the year. Matthew woke up at 5:05 hungry, so Daddy got up to give him a bottle. Watching the news, it was clear that the snow was coming, so Daddy left fo work at 6:00 to avoid driving in rush hour traffic in the snow. By 8:00 the snow was falling and gathering.
While Mommy was feeding Matthew, Jonathan was looking at his view master slides and suddenly exclaimed, “Mommy, Wall-e is so cute! Maybe we can go to Disney and bring him back with us.” We don’t know if he was remembering the toy we didn’t let him buy when we were there in May or if he wants the real Wall-e.
Mommy dressed Matthew in her baby outfit from Germany, a family tradition. Yes, he looks just like his brother!

When Daddy got home (after a short nap), the boys suited up and loaded into the car. The park just down the road was open for sledding. Daddy didn’t tell Jonathan why we were going or that his sled was in the trunk. We got there around 5:00 and it was still plenty daylight.

There were between 20-30 people sledding and that many or more standing at the top of the hill watching. Daddy sat on the sled with Jonathan, but proved to be too heavy for the molded plastic, so Jonathan went solo - and did great!

He sledded down the hill five times, walking back up on his own each time. The last time down, he looked at Daddy and said, “Let’s go home Dad.” We did. Mommy met us at the garage door with hot chocolate and she even built a fire in the fireplace to warm us up. Jonathan was not quite sure he wanted to be warmed up by the fire, but he was very brave and sat there studying matters for a few minutes and decided Daddy’s lap just might be a safe place after all.

Happy birthday Aunt Debbie! Today Mommy found Jonathan a cool surprise at Target: a Lightning McQueen punching bag! After dinner, Daddy filled it up and let Jonathan burn some energy. Two things are clear: first, he’s a southpaw. Second, he has some Bruce Lee-like moves going on. He just may be tougher than Chuck Norris.

Mommy went to get her hair cut, so the boys grilled out for dinner. Jonathan walked right over to the storage box, tossed his leg up top, and crawled on up! He was very proud of his accomplishment. Afterwards, we went to the Barrel of Fun for a strawberry shake.

Today, Jonathan woke up from his nap calling for Mommy - he needed a “Bam Dade” for his ankle. By the time she got the camera, he had gone through just about every family member’s name. The reason? A week-old scratch. Silly boy.
