Those Harrod Boys

The boys played at home today while Mommy did chores. Daddy had a hunch that it would be a good idea to close the basement door this evening, and it was a good thing, Matthew crawled from the living room all the way into Jonathan’s room! Daddy and the boys played with Jonathan’s nerf rocket gun before dinner.

Jonathan and Matthew had a really good day around the house. Daddy was determined not to let a little rain stand in the way of grilling. God was kind enough to move the clouds along a few minutes after Mommy snapped this picture.

At dinner, Matthew started shaking his head, “No” for the first time. Jonathan got cracked up and started shaking his head too. They’re a silly pair.

Mommy spotted a bug, a really BIG one on the kitchen window today.

Tonight we invited ourselves over to “uncle” Dale and “aunt” Lori’s house to go swimming. The boys had a blast. Jonathan, wearing his froggie life jacket, crossed the entire length of the pool and back! Matthew was a little fish, he didn’t want to get out. Jonathan was fast asleep in the car before we hit the freeway.

Last night Jonathan helped Daddy wash the car. By the end of the evening it had degenerated into a sponge-throwing, water-hosing free for all! Daddy’s eyes were very red from lots of soap.

After dinner tonight, Mommy and Matthew ran some errands while Daddy and Jonathan played on the neighbors’ trampoline.

Mommy and the boys had a busy day cleaning up the house (and pulling out all the toys again - Matthew has a special talent here). Our dinner plans with Dr. Haykin didn’t work out due to travel problems, but maybe next month. Tonight Daddy dipped into the secret stash of Star Wars toys he’s put aside for Jonathan to get him an Obi Wan toy. This one swings his lightsaber when you push a button on its back. Pretty cool.

Here are a few old pictures and some new ones. Mommy made the super cutie diaper holder and burp cloth. She’s getting very talented with that sewing machine. Granny would be proud.

Well, after a several week hiatus, we’re back. On June 29, Daddy left on a jet plane to London, England for a week and a half of research. Mommy took the boys to Papa and Nana’s house, where they celebrated Independence Day before returning home later that week. Daddy came home on Sunday, July 11th and was very, very glad to see Mommy and the Boys.

Jonathan has learned to READ at least three words: “Stop,” “Exit,” and “Toy.” Mommy discovered this when they were at the zoo. Jonathan suddenly said, “We have to stop Mommy!” She asked why and he replied, “The sign says ‘Stop.’” It wasn’t a traditional red stop sign, but a rectangular sign for the train stop.

Matthew is starting to do a stretch crawl. He can get around pretty good. He has a three-word vocabulary: “Mama,” “Dada” (normally just “Dah”), and “Buba.” He has fourth teeth now and more on the way.

Here are a few pictures Mommy has taken of the boys in the past week. Tonight they took their first bath together. Matthew splashed Jonathan first, but Jonathan used the water-squirting fish toy to get him back. And so it begins.

When Daddy got home from work, he and Jonathan went to get dinner and to go to the grocery.  Jonathan created his own superhero costume, sort of a cyclops-meets-knight look.  As he swung his sword, he made lightsaber sounds.
